Dear all,
I have encountered the, from what I have understood, not so uncommon problem
of the microphone not working when trying to record using it together with
alsa v0.9.0beta12 and the cmipci driver. Despite numerous searches on
internet for hints I have not been successful in solving the problem. I have
no problem with the playback of sound files, and no problem with capturing
from the CD.
I have an MSI motherboard with an integrated C-Media PCI CMI8738, and I plug
in a headset to the mic in and audio out connections respectively. I have
used alsamixer to set master volume, unmute and set capture on MIC, and
activate MIC boost. I try to record with 'arecord -d 5 -f cd -t wav mic.wav'
and then play with aplay but the only thing I get is noise.
Does anyone have a clue?
