Hi guys, I am trying to upgrade alsa0.5(which is working fine) to alsa1rc2 under Suse 7.1 (Sound Braster live 5.1 card) I have recompiled kernel 2.4 with sound support as instructed. Installed kernell run lilo. All went fine. Alsa 0.5 still working...
then ./configure alsa 1 driver make when compiling it it fails with error: LINUX -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -fomit-frame-pointer -Wno-trigraphs -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common -pipe -DALSA_BUILD -D__isapnp_now__ -DKBUILD_BASENAME=sscape sscape.c | awk -f /arc/DOWNLOADS/ALSA/LATEST/alsa-driver-1.0.0rc2/utils/convert_isapnp_ids > sscape.isapnp gcc -D__KERNEL__ -DMODULE=1 -I/arc/DOWNLOADS/ALSA/LATEST/alsa-driver-1.0.0rc2/include -I/lib/modules/2.4.0-4GB/build/include -O2 -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -march=i686 -DLINUX -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -fomit-frame-pointer -Wno-trigraphs -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common -pipe -DALSA_BUILD -DKBUILD_BASENAME=als100 -c -o als100.o als100.c In file included from als100.c:1: ../alsa-kernel/isa/als100.c:115: `pnp_card_device_id_ver' undeclared here (not in a function) In file included from als100.c:4: als100.isapnp:53: `isapnp_card_id_ver' undeclared here (not in a function) make[1]: *** [als100.o] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/arc/DOWNLOADS/ALSA/LATEST/alsa-driver-1.0.0rc2/isa' make: *** [compile] Error 1 I cannot find any clues what is missing. Please help with this. Also I am not sure is alsa1rc2 significantly better than 0.5... Is it worth wasting time upgrading it? Thanks a lot.
