Posting myself on this.. I now noticed that the the KDE 'kamix' seems to be related to this, maybe? Even if the Master sound controller left/rights are not locked, the RIGHT does increase/decrease by itself, however the LEFT will not move by itself, it always moves the the right side volume as well.
