/dev/sequencer or /dev/sequencer2 didn't seem to make any diffs. OTOH, it might be because I'm tired, I spent the afternoon removing the failed starter from my Nissan pickup, which turned into a cast iron bitch. I had to remove adjacent oil system related stuffs from the side of the block, and make a custom jack assembly to lift the engine about 1/4" by brute force in order to get it out. The mounts are solid, and as I braced against the torsion bar, the torsion bar is now bent (not permanently) down about 3/4" while holding the engine up 1/4". >> >Kmid can choose as output device: >> >- the soundcard builtin synth, >> >> I don't think this one has such a beast. > >SB16 has a builtin synth, namely Yamaha OPL3, AWE32 and later also > has but based on wave table, so it is not such a extreme feature. > >> >- or the MIDI UART/USB output port as output device. >> >> Which I do not have, and is not enabled in the kernel. > >I mean UART or USB. And on the alsa side of the configuration menu, there doesn't seem to be a snd-seq choice. However, I will look again when I have both eyes open at the same time. > >> >Depending on the device you choose then you should consider the >> > following: - MIDI output port will not sound if no HW midi >> > device is connected. - Some builtin soundcards synths need >> > loading some pathes in order to sound (sfxload...) >> >- Builtin soundcards synths have their own channel on the mixer, >> > unmute it. >> >> Does this one have suuch a facility?: > >It should. Again SB16, one of the older Creative cards, does. I > don't know your card. No card, chip is via8233 or 82C686, and is built into the motherboard.
