Searching google, I turned up a match for "vendor CSC1525", the
vendor info I got was "Crystal Sound PnP" (if you want to repeat this
experiment, you can "feel lucky").

However, seaching for "alsa CSC1525", in the first match I found
a patch that has this line in it:

ISAPNP: CSC1525=CSC0100,CSC0110,CSC0103

Searching for "vendor CSC0100" I turn up "Crystal Audio".

But I don't see any "crystal" in the soundcard matrix.

However, this post to debian-user
http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2002/debian-user-200208/msg01338.html

says that

snd-card-cs4236 alsa module

needs to be used (though I'm not sure how the poster figured that out).

A follow-up post says "It worked only when I enabled ISAPnP in the kernel."

I'm afraid rapidly getting out of my depth here. Anyone willing to
help me out some?

TIA,

Joe

PS. If for some reason it seems easier to debug the Soundblaster card,
I'd be happy to get advice on that...
