"alsamixer" is part of the alsa-utils userland package. In addition to
the alsa kernel modules you need to install alsa-lib, then alsa-utils
and finally (for the rest of the tools) alsa-tools. You'll find the
packages in the alsa website. You also need to properly configure your
/etc/modules.conf file (plus if you don't have /dev/snd/* you need to
run the snddevides script that comes with alsa-driver).
