Since v. 0.9.8, nearly all playback is running at double speed/pitch; - wav (alsaplayer, aplay, xmms) - mp3 (alsaplayer, xmms) - mid (TiMidity). I never have observed this before with any version of alsa.
My configure options haven't changed for a long time: $ ./configure --with-cards=ice1712,virmidi --with-sequencer=yes
