Hiya,

I've got a relatively newish machine, with an ASUS nforce2-based motherboard;
been running various flavours of 2.5.xx and 2.6.0-testx with various successes.

On loading the snd-intel8x0 module, I get a horrible amount of background
noise; at first, I thought by muting everything it would go away, but alas not.

I put it down to 2.6.0-test wierdness; compiled a 2.4.22 kernel today with
ALSA drivers and I have *exactly* the same problem; no matter what I toy with
in alsa mixers, it just won't go away.

If I reboot into Windows 98 or XP on the same box, I have no such issue; sound
comes out with absolutely no background noise at all.

Everything's working fine; just want the damn hissing to go away :( It seems
to occur when there's CPU or hard drive usage.

(fyi, I'm running Debian Sid).

R
