I've been trying unsuccessfully to get my sound up
and running for the last 2 days now. I've tried
every possible combination of oss and alsa possible
googling and reading docs for hours and even received
help from a few people in #alsa on irc.freenode.net.
I've tried 0.9.6, 0.9.7b and have settled on 0.9.7
alsa. I've removed usb, apm, and everything I could
spare from my kernel. I followed the Debian package
docs and when that didn't work nuked the packages and
got the sources from the alsa site. The error I keep
getting is the following (I had to retype it):

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/# modprobe snd-cs46xx thinkpad=1

Anyone know how to fix this? I'm not sure what if
anything I can do next to solve these sound issues.
The general info on my machine is that its an ibm
thinkpad 770x 9549-7AU, its had its bios flashed to
the linux friendly newest version on the ibm site.
I'm running debian sid kernel 2.4.22 custom kernel.
I have soundcore support in the kernel. Any help would
be greatly appreciated. I'd also like to be able to
reenable my apm at some point once its been ruled out
as a possible problem.

               Thanks in advance
               Steve
