Thanks, Pierre, it was only now that I returned to my computer.
Recording into Audacity really worked somewhat with the number of
channels set to 4 or more - didn't know that Audacity would listen on
tracks 3 and 4.
But there is still some work to do: After I have listened to that what
Audacity has recorded, the program crashes, and trying to restart it I
get an alert message saying:
"There was an error initializing the audio i/o layer. You will not be
able to play or record audio."
Audacity may only be cured by a reboot, although sound from other apps
(Alsaplayer, KsCD ...) is still working.
