Tonight was the first time I got a 2.6.0 kernel to actually compile,
load and execute, and Ive been trying the various hooks.

After loading all the modules that seem appropriate for the ALSA
driver, nothing happened, no sound.

When I tried to do an 'alsamixer' to see if the sound was muted, I
got the message

function snd_ctl_open failed for default: no such file or directory

any ideas on what this means, and what is needed to get alsa to work
with 2.6.0.
