Hello world,

Using Alsa for a while with lots of boards and systems without the need of any help,
but this time ... I was unable to config a working external midi with ALSA
0.9.0...ALSA 0.9.4

The boards are working fine in all pcm, synth, and external midi(s) are well detected,
ie they are listed ok in /proc/asound, but no way to connect since "aconnect -i"
doesn't report any in/out midi device other than synth ones.

This was not a problem as long as i was using alsa5, witch works fine. but nowdays
alsa9 is needed for almost all music apps.

The use is emu-mpu401-uart --> emu10k1-synth connacting the midi input to the internal
wavetable. the minimum commands to do so are

aconnect -i -o to see if external input/output are present

  aconnect 64:0 65:0

but with alsa 9.x aconnect reports 63 control & timer and nothing else

This is true with all ALSA 9, distributions & cvs compiled, with both my sbLive
platinium, and AudigyPlatinium, with slackware 8.0, redhat, debian and mandrake 9.1

if anybody have an idea ..

N.VIGNOT
