Hello, I am guessing this is a newbie question, but I couldn't find any information about this on the Alsa webpage. The documentation is fairly poor, in my opinion, as there is no good introductory document for new users of Alsa.
I am using kernel 2.6.0-test4, which comes with Alsa 0.9.6. I decided to make the switch to Alsa from OSS. The system is a Linux Mandrake, with packages: alsamixergui-0.9.0-0.7rc1_2mdk libalsa2-0.9.6-2mdk libalsa-data-0.9.6-2mdk xmms-alsa-0.9.12-1mdk alsa-utils-0.9.6-1mdk I have read that one of the features of Alsa is that multiple sound sources can play at the same time. So, I have tried... but if a program is playing audio, and I start a second one, this one will block until I stop the first one. I have configured them both to use Alsa, not OSS, as the audio output device. So my question is: Do i have to configure Alsa in some way? Is it a problem with the programs i am using? (xmms with xmms-alsa plugin, and mplayer with alsa support). Second question: is there some documentation about the /etc/asound.conf file? I don't even know whether I need one or not. I dont have one in my /etc. Just in case... my card is: Ensoniq 5880 AudioPCI (rev 02) Audio works fine, if I only have one source at a time. Any help is appreciated... thanks! -- Pedro Soria-Rodriguez [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
