I'm sorry about my long response time, but I've had a lot
to do these days.

Yeah, it doesn't work for me either. :/
Any other ideas? I may try to amixer set...

But there's also another peculiar thing.
After a reboot, I not only need to set alsamixer volumes (and unmute),
but I also need to run 'xine' (doesn't matter if in root or user) and
unmute it in order for xmms to actually play the songs. Now, I tried
setting xine to 'remember volume settings', but that didnt help.

Does anyone how to permanently unmute xine?
More importantly, why do I need to unmute xine in order to listen
to xmms? Does anyone know what exactly xine modifies?

Again, thank you for any help.
Norbert.
