I hav alsa installed on my redhat 9 inspiron 8000 laptop. I am running alsa .9.6 but it doesn't work! I added the following to my modules.conf and removed all the oss stuff,but it's like it isn't there! there is nothing in dmesg or /var/log/messages. alias sound-slot-0 snd-maestro3 post-install sound-slot-0 /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || : pre-remove sound-slot-0 /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : above snd-maestro3 snd-pcm-oss but like i said, nothing happens on bootup! /dev/mixer isnt there at all. am i missing something?
