hello list, i just got alsa up and running on a powerbook g3 500 (using debian sid, 2.4.22 kernel) and am having some difficulties getting the usb soundcard to load. i ran ./configure for all soundcards, figuring i'd be able to load and unload whatever module i needed. by default, it seems alsa loads the powermac soundcard module, which works great for the powerbook - xmms runs fine, pd runs fine, etc.
however, i'm also trying to get an emi 2|6 usb soundcard up and running, and i'm having some problems. i tried insmodding the snd-usb-audio modules (first manually, then from /etc/modules after loading the emi26 firmware loader), and everything looks like it's running ok -- boot messages don't complain of any errors. however, if i try running pd after booting with the usb audio module loaded, pd complains of 'no alsa in/out' and audio closes. i tried running alsaconf but the only cards that show up on there are the powermac internal card and a legacy pnp card. could someone help point out the steps i need to get the usb soundcard running? i was under the impression (through googling) that the emi 26 is supported by the standard usb driver -- am i wrong about that? or am i just missing some steps to get the usb audio up and running? any help would be appreciated! thanks, nick ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
