Hey All, I have a MIDI controller which requires power from the Game Port MIDI Connection. My Game Port on SB Audigy is pooched / fried (our pet shorted the port while chewing the cable one day...pet is fine...port is not...cable replaced / verified good) . I have to use my onboard Game Port instead...it is enabled in the bios and my onboard soundchip is disabled. This worked fine in XP prior to switching to Linux (RH9 / CCRMA). I'm new to all of this so any help would be appreciated...escpecially if it was idiot proof ;)
TIA, Paul Here's some info on my Linux PC: /etc/modules.conf: alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=7 alias eth0 8139too alias usb-controller usb-uhci alias ieee1394-controller ohci1394 # --- BEGIN: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. --- # --- ALSACONF verion 0.9.0 --- alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1 alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss options snd major=116 cards_limit=1 options snd-emu10k1 index=0 # -- Keep modules from being autocleaned add options -k snd-card-0 # --- END: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. --- alias char-major-195 nvidia alias midi mpu401 options mpu401 io=0x200 lsmod: Module Size Used by Tainted: P snd-seq-oss 35264 0 (autoclean) (unused) snd-seq-midi 5280 0 (autoclean) snd-pcm-oss 45508 0 (autoclean) snd-mixer-oss 16408 1 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss] agpgart 46848 3 (autoclean) nvidia 1765632 11 (autoclean) gameport 3380 0 (unused) binfmt_misc 7656 1 snd-emu10k1-synth 5884 0 snd-emux-synth 35324 0 [snd-emu10k1-synth] snd-seq-midi-emul 7212 0 [snd-emux-synth] snd-seq-virmidi 5144 0 [snd-emux-synth] snd-seq-midi-event 5928 0 [snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi snd-seq-virmidi] snd-seq 49520 2 [snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi snd-emux-synth snd-seq-midi-emul snd-seq-virmidi snd-seq-midi-event] snd-emu10k1 84052 1 [snd-emu10k1-synth] snd-rawmidi 19584 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-virmidi snd-emu10k1] snd-pcm 86944 0 [snd-pcm-oss snd-emu10k1] snd-timer 20740 0 [snd-seq snd-pcm] snd-page-alloc 8484 0 [snd-emu10k1 snd-pcm] snd-util-mem 3096 0 [snd-emux-synth snd-emu10k1] snd-hwdep 6944 0 [snd-emu10k1] snd-ac97-codec 48360 0 [snd-emu10k1] snd-seq-device 6236 0 [snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi snd-emu10k1-synth snd-emux-synth snd-seq snd-emu10k1 snd-rawmidi] snd 44356 0 [snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss snd-emux-synth snd-seq-virmidi snd-seq-midi-event snd-seq snd-emu10k1 snd-rawmidi snd-pcm snd-timer snd-util-mem snd-hwdep snd-ac97-codec snd-seq-device] soundcore 6692 10 [snd] autofs 13588 0 (autoclean) (unused) 8139too 18664 1 mii 3992 0 [8139too] sg 37132 0 (autoclean) sr_mod 17944 0 (autoclean) ide-scsi 12144 0 scsi_mod 108308 3 [sg sr_mod ide-scsi] ide-cd 35776 0 cdrom 33504 0 [sr_mod ide-cd] ohci1394 29576 0 (unused) ieee1394 65316 0 [ohci1394] usbnet 16286 0 (unused) keybdev 2912 0 (unused) mousedev 5556 1 hid 22148 0 (unused) input 5760 0 [keybdev mousedev hid] usb-uhci 27084 0 (unused) usbcore 79968 1 [usbnet hid usb-uhci] ext3 71680 3 jbd 53940 3 [ext3] /etc/sysconfig/hwconf: - class: OTHER bus: PCI detached: 0 driver: unknown desc: "VIA Technologies|VT8366/A/7 [Apollo KT266/A/333]" vendorId: 1106 deviceId: 3099 subVendorId: 0000 subDeviceId: 0000 pciType: 1 - class: OTHER bus: PCI detached: 0 driver: unknown desc: "VIA Technologies|VT8366/A/7 [Apollo KT266/A/333 AGP]" vendorId: 1106 deviceId: b099 subVendorId: 0000 subDeviceId: 0000 pciType: 1 - class: OTHER bus: PCI detached: 0 driver: emu10k1-gp desc: "Creative Labs|SB Audigy MIDI/Game port" vendorId: 1102 deviceId: 7003 subVendorId: 1102 subDeviceId: 0040 pciType: 1 - class: OTHER bus: PCI detached: 0 driver: unknown desc: "VIA Technologies|VT8233 PCI to ISA Bridge" vendorId: 1106 deviceId: 3074 subVendorId: 1106 subDeviceId: 3074 pciType: 1 - class: OTHER bus: PCI detached: 0 driver: ignore desc: "VIA Technologies|VT82C586/B/686A/B PIPC Bus Master IDE" vendorId: 1106 deviceId: 0571 subVendorId: 1106 subDeviceId: 0571 pciType: 1 - class: OTHER bus: USB detached: 0 driver: unknown desc: "Genesys Logic, Inc.
