haven't had time to test this more thouroughly since I needed sound again ASAP (recording a lot on this box). But yesterday I decided to try the WOLK (wolk.sourceforge.net) since grsecurity on its own has, at least it seems to me, changed responsiveness of my sytem for the bad.
Only trouble is, alsa-cvs (with which the TerraTec EWX 24/96 works much better than with the release version) doesn't compile with wolk installed. The error is the following (also posted in the bug-form on the wolk-site): make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/local/src/alsa-cvs/alsa-driver/acore' gcc -D__KERNEL__ -DMODULE=1 -I/usr/local/src/alsa-cvs/alsa-driver/include -I/usr/src/linux/include -O2 -DLINUX -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -fomit-frame-pointer -Wno-trigraphs -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common -pipe -DALSA_BUILD -DEXPORT_SYMTAB -c memalloc.c In file included from memalloc.c:28: /usr/src/linux/include/linux/proc_fs.h:217: redefinition of `PDE' /usr/local/src/alsa-cvs/alsa-driver/include/adriver.h:127: `PDE' previously defined here make[1]: *** [memalloc.o] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/alsa-cvs/alsa-driver/acore' make: *** [compile] Error 1 has anyone else encountered this? or did I do something wrong? -- Michael Hellwig aka The Eye olymp.idle.at admin check out http://homepage.uibk.ac.at/~csaa5128 for gpg public key and don't hesitate to look at http://laerm.or.at ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: VM Ware With VMware you can run multiple operating systems on a single machine.
