I have an ECS K7VTA3 5.0 which uses "VIA VT1612A AC'97 Audio CODEC" - http://www.via.com.tw/en/multimedia/vt1612a.jsp
The sound works fine on Windows XP with the VIA drivers and on Linux with the OSS kernel ones, but I need ALSA, mainly because Linphone doesn't work with these. /etc/modules.conf: ## ALSA alias char-major-116 snd options snd cards_limit=1 major=116 alias snd-card-0 snd-via82xx ## OSS support alias char-major-14 soundcore alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss ##alias sound-service-0-11 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss I then modprobe -a snd-via82xx snd-pcm-oss snd-seq-oss and see Aug 22 20:24:36 pervalidus kernel: PCI: Found IRQ 5 for device 00:11.5 Aug 22 20:24:36 pervalidus kernel: PCI: Sharing IRQ 5 with 00:0e.0 Aug 22 20:24:36 pervalidus kernel: PCI: Sharing IRQ 5 with 00:10.2 Aug 22 20:24:36 pervalidus kernel: PCI: Setting latency timer of device 00:11.5 to 64 I put everything at 100% with alsamixer but hear almost nothing even at the maximum, although I can recognize the sound playing. BTW, I can't change 3D. It seems to be disabled. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: VM Ware With VMware you can run multiple operating systems on a single machine.
