[Alsa-user] modprobe fails

I have a soundblaster live that works with xmms. Though I 
think the drivers 
that mandrake 9.1 installed for it are audigy.  I was 
following the 
directions in the install and ran into this issue:
when I do either 
modprobe snd-sb16   - or
modprobe snd-emu10k1   

I get a list of unresolved externals from the 	snd-hwdep.o

What is wrong? Below is the output from modprobe.
