Hello. I'm having trouble with getting the mixer to work with the latest test kernel. I do have sound, and I can ejust it's vollume and other setting with, for example, kde's mixer. But none of the progs in the alsa utils package seems work. I was using alsa version 0.5.12a in my 2.4.21 kernel which is pretty old. Using that kernel, every thing was fine. But when using the new kernel, when I would do "alsamixer", I would get
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# alsamixer alsamixer: failed to open mixer #0/#0: No such file or directory So I installed the alsa lib -and utils taht matched the version that comes in the kernel (version 0.9.4). Doing "alsamixer" now, I get : [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~/blfs_packeges/alsa]# alsamixer alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such file or directory Another thing I noticed, is that during boot-up, I see the following message: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 0.9.4 (Mon Jun 09 12:01:18 2003 UTC). request_module: failed /sbin/modprobe -- snd-card-0. error = -16 ALSA device list: #0: Avance Logic ALS4000 at 0x9800, irq 10 As you can see, somthing fails. But I do not know if it has any thing to do with my problem. As you can also see, I have an als4000 sound card. I compiled every thing that's related to sound (the driver, mixer drivers ect) in to the kernel. I don't know what to do. Pleace help! __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
