MAIN PROBLEM:
I have a travelmate 270 laptop by acer. It has internal speakers. They work well by themselves, XMMS outpus sound, but once I plug an audio cable in the headphone jack (on the side of the system) the internal speakers stop working (which is expected) but there is not sound comming out of the headphone jack (which is abnormal). If I insert the audio cable halfway, one of the internal speakers functions and one of the headphone speakers functions also.
When I use XP this problem does not occur, so I do not think it is a hardware problem (maybe I need to initialise something in Redhat 9).
