I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to calculate theoretical cpu
capacity required for a system. I realise that there are many factors that
will change this on different machines i.e different sound and graphics
cards, what programs et al. A google search revealed little.

Reason I ask is I'm shopping for a twin cpu machine for my D.A.W and was
wondering a way to reason out the spec that is a little better than 'just
throw more cpu and memory at it'. And how do you determine which graphics
cards use the least cpu cycles, I seem to remeber there used to be a list
based on xbench - but I can't seem to find it.

Currently I use a AMD 1200 with 768Mb ram which easily hits the limit with
my 1010lt. While my searches revealed lots of tuning information for
graphics cards, databases and web servers, there seemed little in the way
of doing the same for sound cards. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks
