So... I finally figured it out. The key was that I had to reconnect the quattro _with no midi activity_. Each time I tried before, it was connected to my Roland keyboard which was continually sending out it's active sense midi data. If I disconnect the midi cable (or shut off the board) I get midi input working fine after I reconnect the quattro to the usb bus and reconnect my midi cables.
Now, I had heard this was a problem with the midisports, but never with the Quattro, since there was no firmware transfer or anything. I had never had this problem with my old RedHat system.
So, now I just have to make sure I keep my midi controller powered off while booting up my system.
First off, thanks for the help on this so far. Secondly, why could this be happening? Any ideas?
Thanks,
Daniel
