I am trying to use the alsa modules to get full duplex support for my intel 810 sound card, so I can use Gnomemeeting.
I built and installed the alsa modules, but run into a problem when I try to load the snd-intel8x0 module. I have the latest version of alsa (0.94) and am trying to instal on RH7.3 2.4.18-5. I am using the stock RH kernel which has sound support (sound core).
Using the startup script installed in /etc/rc.d/init.d,alsasound start, I get the following error regarding init_module:
> alsasound start
Starting sound driver: snd-intel8x0 /lib/modules/2.4.18-5/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.4.18-5/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.18-5/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.18-5/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o: insmod snd-intel8x0 failed
done
My modules.conf file looks like this: # ALSA portion alias char-major-116 snd alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0 # module options should go here # OSS/Free portion alias char-major-14 soundcore # alias sound-slot-0 i810_audio alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0 # card #1 alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
-Thanks for your help,
