I have never successfully been able to get the hardware midi synth on my
SBLive! working under Linux at all.
Just a little background on my software:
Debian unstable. Alsa 0.9.3c-1.
Kernel 2.5.68 SMP (2 cpus)

PCM audio works marvelous with and without arts.
I was even able to record into rosegarden4 using my midi keyboard, yet for
the life of me, I cannot get any midi output from rosegarden, or any other
midi player.
