Dunno, i just got an Audigy2 Platinum, and ALSA works for me. Didn't
tested all functions, but the basic functionality of the card works
fine.

Using:
- Red Hat 9
- kernel-2.4.20-9
- alsa-driver-0.9.3a-fr1

Here's the ALSA part of my modules.conf:

# ALSA
alias char-major-116 snd
## options snd major=116 cards_limit=1 device_mode=0666
options snd major=116 cards_limit=1
# alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1
#
# OSS/Free portion
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
#
# card #1
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
