I'm having trouble using Linphone 0.10.0, a SIP phone with the 0.9.2 alsa drivers. This is a RH 8.0 system running on an ASUS P4S8X board with on-board SiS7012 audio.
Linphone connects to the SIP service, and I hear audio but it's not picking up any audio input from my microphone. I ran alsamixer and the 'Mic' channel isn't muted and the volume level is set to the maximum. It's also labled "CAPTUR" in red. 'Mic Boost' isn't muted but I'm not sure how to enable/disable this item. I ran gnome-sound-recorder but again, I'm not getting any audio input from the microphone. I switched to using the line-in jack but this made no difference. Finally, I rebooted into Windows 2000 and Windows sound recorder was able to record from the mic in, so I now know this is not a hardware problem. Even more distressing is that now in tuxracer (!) sound now lags about 1/4 - 1/2 second behind the action (for example when you catch a herring) which it didn't do before when using the i810 driver. I'm also stuck with the old chestnut "volume control in xmmms has no effect" problem. This says to me that there's a configuration problem with alsa, but what ? Any ideas on any of these problems ? Pointers to relevant FAQs before I go crazy ?
