There are a couple of us having this problem, the common thread seems to being running some type of RH beta (I'm running 8.0.94). For me, using an older version of alsa (0.9.0rc6) works fine. So far no solution for any later version (and actually, with the exception of one helpful fellow, no response from this list either!)
