Hi alsa list,
using alsa-tools-0.9.0rc7 I have been attempting to bring up the
gain sliders within envy24control for the audio channels but they do not
appear anywhere within the program. When I attempt to alter anything three
different errors appear (text from memory - sorry)

Unable to read rate locking state: no such file or directory
Unable to read Internal Clock state: no such...
Unable to read ...

which I kinda seems to me that it can't read the device. I tracked it down
to hardware.c in envy24control (searched on 'state:') and found
snd_ctl_elem_read (maybe the ctl???) to see if I could figure out what I
was doing wrong. As an experiment I downloaded rc8 and tried that (only
compiled the tools) which produced the same error and still didn't have the
gain sliders. Anything obviously dumb I am doing? will email more text of
errors if required.

thanks
