Alsa .9rc8 now compiles ok with both the .9rc8a packages of drivers and library IF the --with-jack option of the alsa-lib* package is omitted. Otherwise, a compilation error occurs in the alsa-lib* package on my machine referencing the lack of pcm_jack.c which is needed by the jack library...
