Hi all,

about a week ago, i reported problems with alsa 0.9.0 rc7 and VIA 8233.

I got the tip to try rc6, but that did not help either (although i had rc6
running before upgrading to rc7...)

Anyway i tried around but could not get it to work, so here is my situation:

The drivers load, but when playing sound from KDE, only about half a second
is played, and repeated all the time. XMMS actually plays a song, but when i
stop XMMS the last half second is repeated, and XMMS hangs. I tried to play
something with aplay, but that gives me an IO error.

I used alsaconf to configure the card, i am using Debian unstable and
alsa-modules compiled from source using the debian alsa-source package
version 0.9.0-rc7-4...

Anybody any ideas, what i do wrong? What disturbs me most, is the fact, that
rc6 was once working, i reinstalled rc6 and the kernel that i had compiled
it for, but i see the same effects as described above. I even downgraded all
other alsa packages, alsa-base, alsa-utils, ... but it still did not work...

My suspicion is that its either some IRQ problem (is that possible??) or my
configuration is somehow wrong... but thus far alsaconf always produced a
working config file...

Can it be something with .asoundrc files? i tried to delete that file, but
it did not help...

Thanks for any help,

Regards, Patty
