It didn't work for me previously, but a combination of alsa-driver-0.9.0_rc6 
and the pci=biosirq kernel flag (previously, the sound chip had an IRQ of 19, 
now it's 6) did the trick for me. My motherboard is an EPoX 8K5A2, with a VIA 
8235 south bridge.
