Hello!
  About your hda using irq 4, haven't you tried cat /proc/interrupts ? If this
exists under debian, you can see every irq and what uses it. If there's no
problem, you might check your bios, if any irq is reserved (for pnp or
something like it).
  That's all I can think of at the moment. I hope this may be of any help.
