I'm currently engineering a music project. Instead of just mixing at
the sound board, this time I want to mess around with bringing the
tracks off of the ADAT into my computer, mixing it there, and then
outputting the final mix into a finalizing system.

What is the best board for doing this under Linux/ALSA? I'm hoping that
there is one for under $100, but if not, that's OK. I just need to know
which of the cards on the market will work nicely with Linux for
digitally transferring the tracks in and out, and work nicely with Linux
mixing software.

Oh. Somewhat off-topic maybe, but related... I see a lot of Linux
software for mixing (engineering) projects, but none of them seem to be
quite ready for prime-time. If any of you have engineered a project
under Linux, I would be grateful for any pointers. I would prefer
something that is not command-line driven. ;-)

Feel free to reply off-list if this is too off-topic.

Thanks.
