Re: Hello, Re: Re: [SNIP...] Re: The BIG PROBLEM is that I AM STILL UNABLE TO GET Re: MIDI (.MID) FILES TO PLAY using the OPL3 chip (FM Re: synthesizer). I've been trying very hard (over 15 Re: hours over two days :-), but did not succeed Re: yet... "PMIDI" seems to be playing midi files, Re: but not music is heard from the FM synthesized Re: (YES, I know about the mixer controls, I have Re: unmuted ALL of them and set them to MAXIMUM Re: VOLUME)... ---- SUCCESS !! ---- It seems that I wasn't using the correct player. PMIDI still refuses to play MIDI files to my card's internal FM synthesizer, but "playmidi-2.4.tar.gz" plays them successfully! Playmidi 2.4 can be downloaded from: http://people.nl.linux.org/~diz/playmidi/playmidi-2.4.tar.gz After I compiled, I just tried a "playmidi -f midifile.mid" and I was surprised to heard the synthesizer play a few notes... Weeee! :) Also I got to watch for the card's mixer settings: come mixer controls have strange names in the command-line "alsamixer" utility: the FM Synth volume control is labeled "Master Digital 1"... (?!?). Thanks to all who replied to my original email. Looks like "I'm in business now"! :-) Now let's try to get this LinuxDOOM "musserver" to work.... :-) Regards, -- Jeannot Langlois -- Get your free email from www.linuxmail.org Powered by Outblaze ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: Access Your PC Securely with GoToMyPC.
