I just ran up2date redhat and installed a new kernel. I had to reinstall alsa , and all compilations driver, lib,utils went fine. But when I run XMMS the maschine hangs with the keyboard blinking and I have to push the reset button. I have never heard about that failure before her on the list.Also when I try to unmute the alsamixer I got a memory segment error so I can not unmute the dac's. I updated the kernel from version 2.4.18 to 2.4.18-17.7.x and used the same alsa version (0.9.0beta12) as in the old kernel. Perhaps I should try a new version of alsa. It seems that the old alsa installation for the old kernel is loaded at boot, and that cause the trouble for the new.
