hi all:

need advice on multiple sound cards.
i somehow want to play with my box using two sound cards the other one
serving music inside the establishment and the other sound card to play
somepart outside the building, coz im planning to place a christmas decor
and need to have some music. im thinking of playing xmas mp3s outdoors.

anyways heres what i have.
mandrake 8.1 linux 2.4.8
ISA Sound Blaster AWE64 (original card, no problem with this running
perfectly for months..)
Yamaha OPL3sa (newly added card)
XMMS (my player)
aumix (my mixer)

when i first inserted the Yamaha OPL3sa , it was detected by kudzu,
however i cannot find any device files like /dev/dsp1 or /dev/dsp0, only
there is
/dev/dsp which i am certain that time my SB was using it it did not play
so i gave it a reboot, what happens next is that the Yamaha OPL3sa took over
/dev/dsp and played. my SB was still in tact. Harddrake, the tool for
hardware probing tool for mandrake listed both the Yamaha OPL3sa and SB.

how do i load both modules at startup? and create a device file and device
file mixer? (if thats the correct way to term it) for each of my soundcard
and all other necessary things i should be aware of -) . or should i
rebuild SB and Yamaha to work with ALSA.

just had downloaded latest alsa-driver, libs and utils. to no avail. the
/dev/dsp1 /dev/dsp2 /dev/dsp3 was there but it wont play

thank you.
