I just installed Red Hat LINUX 7.3 Professional. System detected my soundcard
ES1988 Allegro-1 by ESS Technology (driver maestro3). I ran sndconfig utility
more or less successfully (can hear sound effects for different events), but
there is no sound for games, music CDs, etc. Entry in
/etc/sysconfig/soundcard reads:
       CARDTYPE=UNSPEC
After trying different options, RHL tech support suggested that I need to
download and install a driver for my card created by ALSA.
I am new to LINUX and it is difficult for me to follow what would be for more
experienced user clear and detailed installation instructions.
That is why I am asking for help. I wonder if some LINUX expert could help
by:
       - first, telling me which file I need to download form this type of
card and where it is located;
       -second, tailor the generic installation instruction for this
particular case, substituting all "xxx" for whatever should be there instead,
so I could just follow them to the letter.
I would greatly appreciate help in this matter.
Respectfully, AT
