Did you unmute the channels? Just raising them is not enough :-) Select
the channel in alsamixer and press M to mute/unmute. If it's not that,
I'm out of clues too :-) If the audio plays on the spectrum and the
slider moves at normal speed (not ultra-fast or so) then normally your
drivers are ok :)
