I have an SBLive! and alsa0.9, and I'm wondering why aplay outputs so many clicks when alsaplayer never does. This happens especially when I'm playing two different sounds and they overlap. I have an IRC client that's using aplay to play various wav's and snd's, and often something gets messed up so that every sound plays with a click, and I can restore normal sound only by playing a certain wav from a terminal a few times.
This is all very odd, but it appears to be a bug in aplay. I want use aplay instead of alsaplayer for this client, because it's much lighter/faster, but I can't tolerate all these clicks and pops. I've tried several different options for aplay, but none works.
