Looking at the Alsa Sound Card Matrix, it looks like the Alsa project supports Analog Devices Sound cards with the ac97 codec. I am looking to purchase a Shuttle AV30 motherboard that has onboard ac97 sound. Please forgive my ignorance, but if Alsa supports Analog Devices Sounds cards with the ac97 codec, does that mean that, in theory, Alsa will be able to detect the onboard AC97 sound of the AV30 motherboard?
