1. What is the output of ./configure? Maybe delete config.cache before 
running ./configure?
2. Is /usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.16/ really the directory containing the
   2.4.16-686-smp source (ie containing the Documentation directory etc.) ?
3. I get (uname -u doesn't work on my Mandrake 8.2 system):

[frans@amd frans]$ uname -r
2.4.18-6mdk
[frans@amd frans]$locate snd-opl3sa2 | grep /lib/
/lib/modules/2.4.18-6mdk/kernel/sound/isa/snd-opl3sa2.o
[frans@amd frans]$

Btw: this is with ALSA 0.9.0beta12.
