hello,
To whom ever monitors this email list....

I have had a very difficult time using the Alsa drivers even though I have a
vanilla Red Hat 7.2 Linux install on standard Dell Precision 210 / 220 and
Dell Dimension XPS500 Hardware using the cs4236 and intel8x0 driver modules.

I am very please that alsa-project is making these drivers available, but
the information is spread out so randomly that I almost quit. I am a LAN
administrator services 25 Linux Workstations in a Corporate environment
where the standard policy is Windows 2000. It has made me look bad to take
this long to get these drivers installed and working. If it would be helpful
I would like to write a How-To for this environment? Would you use it? If
not I don't want to waste the time. But if so... it might stream line the
process for others.

Secondly... even the How-To's on the Alsa-project web site assume too much
for people who are trying to roll over from Windows 2000 to Linux. Many
steps are skipped.

Just a thought. One more example of a end-2-end configuration might be
helpful. But you may have plenty of people working on documentation already.

Chris
