Hello,
I have a default Red Hat 7.2 install with a Crystal Semicondutor cs4236
sound card. I have downloaded and installed the 0.9rc1 driver, lib, and
utility source code and executed the "./configure" and "make install" No
errors were reported that I could see.

However, when I try to execute "alsamixer" from a command line I get this
error:

"Alsamixer will not run "alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for
default: Sound Protocol is not compatible"

I need to unmute the sound with alsamixer. (amixer won't work either)

Any ideas?

Secondly, is there documentation anywhere for configuration and management.
I have looked at the man pages for alsamixer and looked at the INSTALL file
in each of the 3 0.9rc1 directories but where do I go for help?

chris
