Hi, Brian Parish hat gesagt: // Brian Parish wrote: > > > $ modprobe snd-ice1712 > > > modprobe: Can't locate module snd-ice1712 > > > > > > $ ls -R /lib/modules/2.4.18-6mdk/kernel/ | grep ice1712 > > > > > > also finds nothing. Shouldn't there be an ice1712.o somewhere in there?
No. It should be in /lib/modules/2.4.18-6mdk/alsa/snd-ice1712.o But modprobe should have found it there in the first place, so something went wrong. > > > I tried the recommended: "./configure --with-debug=detect, make clean, > > > make" - no useful messages in /var/log/messages Takashi: > > make install > Um yeah Takashi - that's what I thought I said. Anyway, fortunately there was a slightly more useful > reply to a previous post which put me on the right track - I needed the > --with-cards option to configure. Can't see this documented in the > INSTALL file. That's because you normally don't need this, in fact it did break things in very early releases, that was why my tip if something went wrong was, to try it again without a --with-cards option. > Are you one of the developers? It wasn't, as I see it. Takashi's hint was, that you might have missed the "make install" step, because you didn't mention if you did it. If you do a "make install" you can see, which modules are copied where, and that's probably what Takashi meant. No need to get touchy here, IMO. And with basically just two main ALSA developers I cannot see, why their answers shouldn't be concise. ciao, -- Frank Barknecht _ ______footils.org__ _______________________________________________________________ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas -- http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
