I downloaded and installed the modules, did a modprobe snd-ens1371 and fired up alsaplayer (after recompiling) and the sound is horrible. Many, many pops and cracks and the tempo is too slow. The same is true if I load the oss driver and try it in XMMS.
The .5.x versions seem to work ok with alsaplayer. The sound all of the sudden falls out of sync when I use the OSS compatibility under XMMS. I do have an ASUS board with built in sound, but I have disabled it (last I checked). cat /proc/pci Bus 0, device 16, function 0: Multimedia audio controller: Ensoniq 5880 AudioPCI (rev 2). IRQ 5.
