I just can't figure out how to get midi working. I know I am probably missing something really obvious. I have the Ali5451 sound chipset on my laptop. I got everything except the midi working on it under Linux using the latest Alsa drivers. The thing is, I don't really have a modules.conf to show you because I basically just load the modules at boot and everything but the midi is fine with that. Once I was just feeling adventurous so I went and loaded all of the modules that I could see that may have had something to do with midi, and I actually got a device to register in /proc/asound/seq/oss but I didn't get any sound when I tried playing midi files using playmidi (however, id didn't complain that it couldn't use /dev/sequencer like it normally does).
Does anyone have an idea what I need to do? I looked through the docs but they really weren't that helpful. Maybe there are some different docs I need to look at.
