Graham, sorry I cannot help you.... however I cannot even get the GUI for the Alsamixer to come up. Did you have to create some kind of a configuration file (alsa.conf or alsasound.conf) to get it going? Or did you just compile the 3 tarballs and then just execute "alsamixer"? Thanks, Chris

I have got everything to compile, and the modules load and operate without errors, but I get no sound. I saw warnings that by default everything is muted by the driver, so I loaded alsamixer to try and sort it out. Alsamixer gives me the following sliders: Master, Line, CD, Mic, Mic Boost, PC Speaker, Capture, Beep For some reason there is no PCM slider, as there is in the OSS driver. I am able to move the master, pc speaker, capture and beep sliders up and down using the arrow keys. I cannot however move the other four sliders - they are permanently stuck on zero. Could this be why I get silence all the time? Can anyone suggest a solution? If I try using an OSS based mixer, I get to move the four sliders, but I still get no sound.
