Adding that line described below, 'options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1' fixed it, and after one other fix I point out below, alsa9.0beta12 runs on Mandrake 8.2! I'd like to thank Frans Ketelaars and Kjetil Tjensvold for excellent help!
